Description: 

Reporting to the General Manager and the Vice President of Continuous Improvement, the Lean Leader/Facilitator Manager will have an overall opportunity to work with all levels of the organization to lead the company’s Lean Continuous Improvement strategy across the facility and supply chain. 

Expected results include leading Kaizen events and Value Stream Mapping strategies to improve productivity, reduced cycle times, eliminate waste and enhanced customer satisfaction.  ASG is committed to the implementation of Continuous Improvement approaches including Lean, Kaizen and Six Sigma tools to provide a common language and methodology to improvement.

Responsibilities : 

Your key responsibilities will include developing an effective plan to promote and support the organizations Lean Continuous program along with training, mentoring, and applying methods and tools effectively.  Lead root cause analysis and corrective action teams.  Actively participate intercompany and within industry associations for benchmarking and implementation of best practices. 

Summary of key duties include:

·         Develops and maintains lean transformation plan including value stream maps to identify key opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance based on strategy deployment and business results.                                                 

·         Collaborates with leaders to execute Gemba walk process (Managing for Daily Improvement), utilizing and constantly improving the visual management on the shop floor and in the office areas. Drives all levels of leaders to implement continuous improvement and eliminate flow inhibitors (anything that disrupts customer satisfaction).                      
                                

·         Coach and mentor leadership toward a continuous improvement culture that fosters daily improvement involving all team members.  Track progress of Lean Project Leaders on their plant specific lean plans and empowers team members to implement solutions.           
                      

·         Coordinates all Lean Manufacturing Activities within the location including kaizen events, projects and any other activity to improve and further lean efforts and ensure execution of transformation plan.                                                            

·         Drives flow, pull and material management through operations; cell design with product, material and information flow considers based on appropriate Takt Time.          

·         Drives lean thinking into the office to create enterprise level value stream management including customer interfacing and new product development areas.  This includes implementing 5S and standard work in the office and visual management and daily improvements as appropriate.   

·         Assures open communications and involvement of employees who work in the Lean process.   

·         Leads Lean Assessment preparation and develops improvement plan based on assessment results.  Uses Lean techniques to perform process reviews and aid in establishing standardized work procedures.  Participates as a Lean Assessor for ASG facilities.

·         Provides lean training and coaching for site employees based on needs and requirements.

·         Serves as an available resource for implementation issues at the plants and drives progress on lean plans and implementation.

  • Stays current with technologies and lean concepts through continuing education and benchmarking.
Qualifications: 

 

  • Expert Level  experience within at least 6 of these Lean Enterprise Tools (minimum requirements):

o   5S | Material Pull Systems | Single Minute Exchange of Dies | Standard Work | Value Stream Mapping |OEE | Lean Daily Management |RCFA

  • Expert Level defined as ability to facilitate events on a given tool anytime, anywhere with success; can be the creator of training material for that tool.

o   Facilitator of 50+ Kaizen Events

  • Experience within at least 3 of the following Lean Enterprise Tools:

o   3P Design/Process | Variation Reduction Kaizen (VRK) or Six Sigma | Transactional Process Improvement |Kanban |Policy Deployment |A3 |Total Productive Maintenance

  •  Leadership Competencies:  Integrity, Action Orientation, Drive for Results, Conflict Management, Problem Solving, Dealing with Ambiguity, Perseverance and Motivating Others.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment without losing sight of long and short term company goals.  Being able to prioritize the daily and weekly tasks of staff and self to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Industry experience within Packaging, Folding Cartons, Plastics, Pharmaceutical, Health & Beauty and Consumer Goods a plus.
  • Ability to travel, approximately 20% of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs. Ability to reach overhead, bend, stoop at least 5 times an hour. Ability to turn/twist at least 10 times an hour.

Education Requirements: 

 

  • 10 years working experience in Operations in progressively more responsible positions.  Previous experience in a printing or packaging environment strongly desired.
  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Lean certification and Black-Belt Six Sigma an asset
