Family Day Care Services is an established and respected charitable organization founded in 1851 and is part of the United Way of Greater Toronto.
Location – North York, Ontario
The Financial Analyst collaborates in the preparation of Agency’s internal annual budget as well as budget submissions to regional/provincial governments and the United Way of Greater Toronto. The position is responsible for the preparation of quarterly reporting to the Ministry of Community, Family & Children’s Services offices (MCFCS) and all OEYC programs; prepares the analysis of wage subsidy utilization for regional governments as required.
Under the direction of the Manager, Finance the Financial Analyst coordinates the preparation of the annual agency budget
Provides professional advice and guidance in interpreting results and explains variances to management and staff in terminology they will understand regarding financial analysis
Provides professional, peer consultation, assistance and coverage as part of a high performing team
Assists in budget submissions for regional governments and the United Way
Prepares year-to-date financial reports to the (Ministry of Community, Family & Children’s Services
(MCFCS)
Prepares quarterly and annual wage subsidy utilization journal entries and reports
Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements and maintains year-end audit schedules
Reconciles agency’s investments monthly
Prepares annual returns (i.e. Charity Information Return, etc.)
Completes GST returns semi-annually
Completes Statistics Canada reporting
Prepares and posts payroll journal entries
2 – 5 years financial accounting, auditing and/or budgeting experience
Knowledge of the application of principals and practices employed in effective financial analysis and research, budget development and control techniques and processes
Strong analytical, research, problem solving and resolution abilities
Ability to communicate results of analysis and effectively interact with leaders at all levels of the organization
A team player that will think strategically and effectively when faced with difficult challenges
Highly organized and efficient to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline oriented environment
Ability to work with minimal direction, including ensuring that all work aligns with program and Agency goals
Strong project management skills
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, macros, lookup functions) Accpac, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Public or non-profit experience a definite asset
Insync Ceridian Payroll and HR module experience an asset
Interest for process improvement and demonstrate innovation
Occasional travel for financial presentations to government or funders
