The mission of the Purchasing and Inventory Manager is to develop a team of high performers, (“A” players) to deliver efficient, accurate purchasing and inventory control. The PIM will have the responsibility to implement best practices in maintaining inventory levels to meet demand while preventing overstocks and obsolescence.
Responsibilities
· Coach, train and mentor staff to achieve purchasing department’s objective
· Creation of Strategic Vendor Partner Program with Supplier Scorecard along with actionable items and improvement targets
· Develop the best tactical and strategic agreements for the company to achieve optimal pricing, availability, delivery schedules and routes, supply chain efficiencies and best vendor performance.
· Communicate with supervisors about vendor issues, pricing, product changes, supply chain dynamics, and strategy
· Maintain inventory database (lead times, min order quantity, pricing)
· Optimize and maintain lean inventories, minimize physical and financial loss
· Ownership of KPI’s and metrics to set department goals and measure results
· Direct inventory activities; including organizing & management of yearly inventory counts and weekly cycle counts
· Investigate problems, find root causes and develop solutions
· Establish strategies and goals for improved inventory forecast performance for the organization
· Maintain close coordination with Production Team to ensure materials arrive for the timely production of finished products
· Must develop demand projections, maintain databases and provide oversight of the details affecting accuracy in purchasing and inventory.
· Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned
· Collection and distribution of necessary materials documents (NAFTA, CofA’s, MDS)
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a competitive college or university in Purchasing, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field

Experience with international trade zones or working knowledge of customs regulations highly desirable

Previous supervisory/management/coaching experience in business setting required

Experience with NAFTA & SDS

Three (3)+ years of related experience in purchasing; manufacturing environment a plus

APICS certification Preferred
